Mission Statement
"To assist in the management of symptoms for coping with Fibromyalgia."
This site is something very personal to me. My wife and I have been coping with fibromyalgia for the past 30 years, she suffers, I support. My wife developed post-traumatic fibromyalgia after a terrible accident. She deals with constant pain, daily migraines and many of the other conditions associated with having fibromyalgia. She is an RN/BSN but is unable to work and this was extremely stressful personally and financially. As she puts it, it was a "labor of love" but now she feels she can help me to help you, too.
Fibromyalgia is a very complex condition, which we understand. One day you may feel a little better (and of course you try to push it because that is a common personality trait of someone with fibromyalgia) to the next day which is - well, needing much assistance to cope with the symptoms. My wife always says that if she looked the way she felt, people, children and small pets would be running away from her! I've included a poem my wife wrote about this "invisible" painful condition.
The hardest part of this process, as a support person, is realizing you can't fix this but only make things easier as much as possible. Using my background in engineering, her nursing knowledge and now being a patient, we have gone through many personal trials and errors. We have also had the privilege of running a support group for fibromyalgia sufferers and their significant other as volunteers for over 12 years. This was extremely insightful and we learned many things from other patients and from the wonderful doctor (a world-renowned expert on fibromyalgia!) under whose supervision we did this.
I developed this site to offer our experience and education to you. My wife tells me that there are too many sufferers unable to get to the store or feel very alone and I want to make it easier for you to get the tools that may be very helpful in your coping. There is a place on this site where you will be able to offer your feedback and ideas as well about this "invisible" painful condition.
I know this can't be cured - yet! I hope and pray the products you find on this site will benefit you, will help you cope, one day at a time. This is something I take to heart and that is my mission
The Logo
Our Logo
is symbolic. The red dots represent tender points, they lighten as they approach the word 'assist'; it is my hope that the items found on this site help to reduce your pain and fatigue and assist you in day to day living. The sunrise picture is called "Glorious Morning". I've yet to meet a fibromyalgia patient who described their morning like this. It is my hope that this site will be helpful and you find your rays of hope.
